Thigma Cape
Dry Clean only
Craft of Ladakh : Thigma
Thigma, a tie-resist dye which is an ancient dyeing technique of Ladakh. Inspired by it we have our Thigma Hand Tie-resist Dyed Cape.
The evidence of Thigma has been found through the ceiling paintings in Sumsteg Temple in Alchi Monastery in Ladakh which was constructed in the 10th century. Even today, thigma technique is used locally for garments and accessories but slowly it is being neglected. Introducing Thigma in our winter collections, helps us tell a story of the craft and at the same time revive it.
This piece not only has an ancient craft of Ladakh but it has also supported the women still working in the craft. Our Thigma fabric has been woven and hand-dyed by Mrs. Chorol's unit (Superb Ladakh). A women entrepreneur who has 15 women, weaving magic.
